About the Role
• Advancement and Appreciation – Willo has a history of internal promotion. Our current Director of the Board started with the company 44 years ago, working his way up through the ranks.
• Functional Expansion – Willo recently extended the Accounting/Finance function by hiring a Chief Financial Officer to help lead the organization into the next chapter.
• Support – The Controller will be accompanied by a Clerk, who will, at the Controller’s direction, assist with administrative tasks while maintaining other responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
Marketing Execution & Campaign Support
- Oversee all accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, GL, Revenue Recognition, Payroll Processing.
- Manage the monthly close processes to produce timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and other financial reports as required while meeting deadlines.
- Process weekly payroll and submit 401(K) contributions and safe harbor match.
- Mentor and manage a small team, ensuring appropriate staffing. Coach, counsel, and provide continual performance feedback to allow for growth in skill, ability, and succession planning.
- Lead implementation of all new financial systems and upgrades. Participate in other company software implementations that influence accounting and finance as necessary to ensure accurate integration, efficiencies, and no loss of control.
- Ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures and continually maintain and update policies and procedures.
- Design, implement, manage, and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls across all transaction processes. Identify, mitigate, and remediate control risks.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Work with external auditors for annual audits and tax compliance.
- Assist in preparing new hire packets and onboarding new hires, as needed.
- Ensure new hires are reported to the appropriate Departments of Labor and taxing authorities.
- Ensure new hires are set up in accounting software.
- Communicate policy and procedure changes to employees.
- Maintain and update employee handbook.
- Assist in Ad Hoc projects as requested.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a CPA or MBA is preferred. They’ll bring a mix of five or more years of “percentage to completion” or “job cost accounting” experience. They maintain strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations, are proficient with accounting software, work well with a team, and consistently assess how they and their team can better serve the business.
